  1. Hi Ricky,

Nice pics and blog here, my friend!

I got into photography two years ago, purchasing the D7000 and 18-200mm zoom. I've had a blast since then, voraciously researching, learning, and developing my photography skills...

170,000 accuations later, I feel I've only just begun, but at least I'm progressing and have a lot more knowledge and confidence than when I first started :)

I'm basically into nature, birds, BIF, and artistic styles. Here's the link to my Flickr photostream if you care to visit there...

I'm headed to the Horicon Marsh this Sat. the 27th of April, to photograph the spring migration! Can't wait. Taking along a couple of photography buddies, too. I was there 4 times last summer and was just awed!

I live and work in Sheboygan so it's only just over an hour away... Convenient.

I've been saving my $ for a quality long telephoto lens and for this trip I'll be renting some equipment from lensrentals.com to test them out:
    1) the new Nikon 80-400 af-s and 2) the new Nikon D7100

Sometime later I'll also be renting the NIkon 300 f/2.8, which is really a beginning lens for a pro, but very expensive for an enthusiast like me!
Lengendary optics, though, and maybe worth saving another year for...
We'll see... That's why I always rent and experience equipment first hand before I plunk my hard-earned money down!

I'll check this blog again in a day or so and see if you answer back... It would be great to start a photographic friendship with a fellow Wisconsinite!

    My email is terry.owen@sbcglobal.net

    Take care and God bless!

    1. Morning Terry, glad you like my site. I started photography in 80's. Pretty much shot every sort of way. Weddings, portraits, landscape, wildlife. I got into birding about 5 years ago. I was getting bored and wanted to try something new. I always been big into nature so it kinda make sense. Bird photography isn't easy but I do enjoy it.
I'm a Canon shooter, right now I shoot with a Canon 7D and a 5D mkIII. I normally shoot with a Canon 300L 2.8 with either a 1.4 or 2.0 extender on it. I love that combo because it's still small enough to carry.

  2. Hey,

Thank for the reply back, Ricky...

Sounds like you've got some nice Canon gear there and I'm sure it's a joy to use it...

I just received my Nikon 80-400 af-s lens from lensrentals.com today and in preparation for my Horicon Marsh trip this Saturday. Took a few shots with it and I'm impressed with it so far... Time and thousands of shot later will tell, though. I'll have it for 7 days...

Take care and I'll try to visit your blog here every once in a while.

    Happy clicking and God bless!

    Terry
